What is Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty Technique?

Share

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is a surgery performed to change/correct the shape, the size and the angle of the nose.

Did you know that it is the most performed cosmetic procedure around the world?

This has led to significantly advancing new techniques.   With each new technology, less traumatic surgeries are performed.

One of the most advanced techniques developed lately in the field of rhinoplasty is Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty.

This innovative technique provides the accuracy necessary to comfortably transform the look of the nose with minimum trauma. This new technology uses ultrasonic vibrations to accurately  and gently reshape the bone. This progress makes it possible to carefully change the appearance of the nasal bones while preserving the surrounding soft tissue.

What are the advantages of Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty?

  • It reduces the soft tissue trauma to zero when cutting and shaping the bone. So bruising and swelling will be less.
  • Since it does not damage soft tissues other than bone, the bleeding condition seen after surgery is minimized.
  • Prevents uncontrolled bone fractures due to hammer and osteotome methods. Thus, it prevents contour irregularities.
  • Postoperative recovery is faster because it does not damage the soft tissue surrounding blood vessels and cartilage, so patients can return to their daily lives more quickly. Postoperative pain is also typically less.

How long is the recovery period?

For standard nose surgeries, recovery time lasts around 7-10 days. During this period, the face experiences swelling and bruising, which triggers patients to spend this time at home. However, since rhinoplasty performed with ultrasonic technique causes minimum to no bruises, patients may return to their daily lives with a splint in their noses 1-2 days after the operation. The splint will be removed on the sixth or seventh day after the surgery, an even at this stage the patient will look already so fresh and nobody could guess they actually underwent a rhinoplasty procedure!

How is the bone cut with ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

In more traditional rhinoplasty techniques, the bones are aggressively scraped and chiseled away. However, in ultrasonic rhinoplasty technique, thanks to the special tips of the laser device called “Piezo”, the bone is not cut. It is rather shaped by ultrasonic waves which create microtraumas on the bone.

The tools used during an ultrasonic rhinoplasty are powered by ultrasonic waves that vibrate the tip of the tool, shaving excess bone that creates humps. As a result, even the thinnest and most brittle bones can be adjusted for a better cosmetic outcome. More micro and precision tips are expected to be put into production in 2021.

Thanks to each new technology, less traumatic surgeries are performed.

Which technique is used during the surgery?

During an ultrasonic rhinoplasty, an open rhinoplasty technique will be used for better exposure and visualization during surgery.

An incision will be made at the columella straight below the nasal tip. The nose will then be retracted backwards, dissecting the nose cartilage with care being taken to not incise the medial crura, the cartilage that separates the nostrils. The flap will be raised off of the nose for full revelation and work can now be done to reshape the nasal bridge, nostrils and tip with the specialized ultrasonic tools.

Different tools could be used to scratch, shape, and smoothen the nasal bone. The ultrasonic tool allows for more precision and less surrounding tissue trauma. Once completed, the flap will be draped over the bone framework and external contouring and shaping is completed. The incision will be covered with sutures and an external splint or cast will be placed over the nose. There will not be any visual scar remaining after the surgery.

At Cygnus Clinic, we offer piezoelectric rhinoplasty to precisely reshape nasal bones and cartilage, ensuring reduced size and natural results. Our ultrasonic rhinoplasty technology allows us to carefully sculpt nasal structures, minimizing trauma. During your initial consultation, our plastic surgeons will assess if you’re a good candidate for this advanced procedure.

How much does Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty cost?

When determining the price for ultrasonic rhinoplasty, there are several different parameters taken into consideration, such as: the experience of the surgeon, the structure of the nose, whether the patient has previously undergone a rhinoplasty or not, the hospital in which the surgery is performed etc.

Research is always important because being operated with inexperienced hands can cause irreversible problems, and reconstructive surgery might be needed. Whereas, the goal of rhinoplasty is to be performed once in life without any need for corrections.

You can get answers to all the questions you have in mind during your detailed examination with our surgeon and medical consultant.

The goal of an ultrasonic rhinoplasty is to achieve facial harmony by changing the shape, size, or angle of the nose.https://cygnusclinics.com/en/reservation/
