What is a dental implant?
When the implants are placed on the jaw bone, they are placed to the bone and gingival tissue and matched to the jaw closure.
Prosthesis over the implant is provided to be aesthetic and function just as real teeth. Thus, the implant and porcelain tooth replacing the missing tooth can be used without any difference from the patient’s own teeth.
With the new materials applied on the titanium material, the implants now adhere to the jawbone more quickly, so that prosthetic teeth can be applied immediately onto the implant.
In recent years, the success of dental implants has been 99% thanks to the so-called SLActive surface on the implant.
The latest innovation in dental implants; flapless that is a seamless implant application technique. In the flapless technique, the implant is applied without cutting the gingiva and thus suturing. Especially with this latest innovation, the implant application time is approximately 5-10 minutes.
Stages of Implant Treatment
1. Planning:The bone structure, quantity, bone quality and anatomical structure of the region of the patient to be implanted are examined with radiological and oral examination.
Treatment protocols are planned and the patient is informed in detail.
2. Implant surgery: According to the surgical procedure and duration to be applied to the patient, general or local anesthesia is used upon the patient’s request. After all surgical sterile conditions have been met for implant placement, implant cavities are prepared in the designated jawbone and the implants are placed. The implants are closed by suturing and the healing process starts between 1.5 months – 4 months.
3. Healing Process: The sutures melt according to the type or they are removed after 1 week. It is recommended that oral care and mouthwash be used to prevent bacterial infection on the sutures.
4. Making of Prostheses: The closure screws placed on the implants are opened at the end of the waiting period and the measurements are taken in the same session. If the porcelain tooth is done with the classical method, the tooth is completed within 3-4 days.

Is Implant Operation Painful?
Implant application is a painless procedure, usually performed under local anesthesia, lasting 5 to 30 minutes. Although the severity of pain felt as the effect of anesthesia varies from patient to patient, it is certainly not unbearable. With the painkillers given by our dentist, you will have a painless healing process and you will recover quickly. People who have had implants say that they usually use 1 or 2 painkillers for the first two days and that they do not need it afterwards.
After Implants
After the operation, following your dentist’s advice allows you to enter the healing process very quickly.
After the operation, you should be careful when performing dental care and take care of the wound site. Ice compresses on your cheek for 10 minutes will reduce swelling and even prevent its formation.
Please note that smoking will delay the healing of the wound.
For infections that may occur after an implant operation, you should apply the antibiotic treatment prescribed by your dentist. Pain relief medications recommended for pain can be used again.
Be careful not to shake or spit your mouth hard for the first 2 days.
